Fan Media Network’s presentation at this year’s South by Southwest Interactive Festival has led to possible investment and sponsorship opportunities for the Dallas startup.
Based in Dallas, Fan Media is a mobile app that allows sports fans to post and follow coverage of their favorite professional and college football, basketball, hockey, baseball and soccer teams through videos created by other fans. Expected to reach 1 million users this year, the app allows users to vote for their favorite videos and producers. Videos that receive the most votes can be displayed on a team’s channel within the app, and popular video makers can be named season correspondents, providing official team coverage for Fan Media.
The company’s founder and CEO Kirk Berridge took Fan Media to SXSW to debut crowd funding capabilities on the app. Fans can send tips in custom amounts to their favorite video makers, or users can source money for campaigns, like a taking a road trip to see a Red Sox game or buying a new iPhone to post better videos.
Berridge told us a little more about his experiences at the Austin tech event…
